The solar Calcium H and K lines
lifestyle July 12th. 2023, 11:52amUsing a spectroheliograph (SHG), we scanned the slit of a high-resolution spectrometer across the solar disk. The thick top line is the Ca-K line and the lower thick line is the Ca-H line. If you look at the darkest part of the lines, you can see the variations in brightness that correspond to surface structures on the sun’s surface. The thumbnail for this video shows a reconstructed image from this data using the Ca-H line.
